Out to get ya
It is hard not to feel something or someone is out to get you when things do not go the way you would like.
Talking to a friend the other day, about how I was preparing for the future and I said, “for when the world would try to mess with me again.”. He told me not to take things so personally.
It would be quite interesting, if not flattering to learn my name came up in a corporate business meeting. It would not be nice to learn they were plotting against me though.
As I said, it is kind of hard not to feel caught up in a mess of someone else’s doing. Especially when it may not have been intentional.

After graduating from college, I started to work for a dot-com company. It was more like a multi level marketing web site.
Anyway, It was not my fault the dot-com bubble burst. Nor did I even know what Enron was. This market turmoil came a couple years before the home lending crisis -- which most people recall more readily I'm sure.

It took a couple years and a move across the country to get another stable job. I told my friend one of my goals with this new job was to prepare for the next financial strain the world impose on me. I didn't think it would come so soon.
Fortunately, I was able to weather the storm but my friend had lost his job. He did not attempt to buy multiple homes or make bad loans so others could live beyond their means. He was a better man than I because he didn't take it personally.
